While walking through Benin, I stumbled over a pair of old train tracks. I decided to make a little, poetic movie about the echos of this old colonial line.
Concept, Sound Design and Edit by Bas Voorwinde
Camera by Liso Cassano
Made in Benin, Africa. August 2011.
Premiered on VPRO Dorst.
This is the teaser for a longer doc I directed and edited for Foam, the photography museum of Amsterdam, for their FoamLab-event ‘Private Parts’. The film had to lure people to the event, as well as inspire people at the event to think about the voyeuristic aspects of taking photos.

STOPCHANGEFIGHTFREE.COM was an art project done in collaboration with installation artist Anne-Jan Reijn on the power of images in activist movements. People were invited to respond to selected symbols from activist history with selected images, thus creating image stories that were then used in an installation.
During the Dutch liberation day on the 5th of May 2010 & 2011 the installation was presented in several locations in Amsterdam during a program organized by Club Interbellum and the Committee 4&5 of May.
This item was made for VPRO Dorst at the festival “De Zwarte Cross”.
We chose, at this very male-oriented festival, to focus on four girls/women and show the festival through their eyes.
In this small, musical item a little shy girl, moves around the terrain, and we follow to see this strange world through her eyes.

In this item we followed a girl that entered the “dress-up”-cross race for the first time, as one of only a handful women.
